Ask a question about this product

The Andean Condor (Vultur gyphus) is the largest bird of prey in the world, but its habitat is limited to just a few countries in South America.  Condors have wingspans exceeding 12 feet (four meters) and weigh up to 25 lbs. (11 kg). They are usually seen in the air in numbers ranging from one to sixty or more.

They roost and nest in the mountains, although not usually above 18,000 feet (5,500 meters). Their normal food is carrion, dead, dying or sometimes newborn animals. Condors have heads that are bare of feathers - an adaptation for feeding on carcasses.

Condors have commonly been killed for their feathers (used for decoration) and by many were considered to be pests. Some Indian religions considered a hunted condor a rite of passage for men.

This excursion is either early in morning (includes breakfast) or late in the afternoon (includes dinner of grilled Patagonian meat and a short horsebacking riding trip).
